About Idols of Ash

Developer: Leafy Games

Released: 2026

Fall Until It Ends

In Idols of Ash, you start with a rope, a hook, and a reason you don’t fully understand anymore. The ruin stretches endlessly below you, a dead place made of broken arches and upside-down structures that feel like they were never meant to be walked on. There’s no path, only the next place you can latch onto.

Grip, Swing, Don’t Miss

Getting down is harder than it sounds. You fire the grappling hook, swing, let go, and hope you judged the distance right. Miss once, and the fall will punish you, sometimes instantly, sometimes by leaving you injured and desperate. The deeper you go, the less stable everything feels, and the more careful you have to be.

You Hear It Before You See It

Something follows you. You won’t see it at first, but you’ll hear it, fast legs scraping against stone, a wet hiss cutting through the dark. The sound builds quickly, and when it does, you move. There’s no fighting it, no trick to stop it. If you hesitate or panic, it catches up.

Breathing the Ash

Every so often, you’ll find a kiln glowing faint green in the darkness. You stop, breathe in the ash, and for a moment, things settle. Your progress holds there. Your body steadies. Then you leave it behind and keep going, because staying isn’t an option.

Why You Keep Going

Somewhere at the bottom are the urns. Whatever is inside them matters to you; that’s the only thing that feels certain. Each one you reach brings something back, or at least makes the silence easier to carry.

It doesn’t take long to reach the end, maybe half an hour if you don’t make too many mistakes. And if you try again on a harder run, the fall gets crueler, and the thing chasing you gets faster.
