Some games tell you exactly where to go. The Archives of Trevosa leaves you alone with a stack of records and expects you to figure things out yourself.
The entire game is built around one mystery: who is the rightful heir to the kingdom of Trevosa? To answer it, players dig through generations of royal history, piecing together a family tree that stretches across seven generations and includes 30 different people.
The investigation happens through documents. Letters, court records, royal announcements, and ceremonial texts slowly reveal how different members of the family are connected. Sometimes, a single line hidden in an old report can completely change your understanding of the bloodline.
As new names and Trevosan terms appear, players can search them to unlock additional documents and follow new leads.
The game’s fictional language plays a major role in the experience. Instead of giving direct translations, the game lets players learn meanings naturally through repetition and context. By the time the investigation deepens, many of the kingdom’s titles and traditions start feeling familiar.
What makes The Archives of Trevosa stand out is how much it trusts the player. There are tools for organizing discoveries, but no system constantly pushing you toward the answer. Progress comes from patience, logic, and paying attention to details.
For players who enjoy slow mysteries and deduction-focused games, Trevosa feels less like solving puzzles and more like uncovering a forgotten piece of history.
